A weak overall economy combined with a squeeze on available credit contributed towards mainly flat sales figures for hybrids in September. The figure of 20,836 units was down 8.9% when compared to the September 07 figure of 22,873 units. With battery inventories low however, even if demand was high, it most likely could not be met.
As the lull in hybrid car sales continues most dealerships are hoping it will allow manufacturers to catch up with supplies of hybrids so as to prepare for the expected upturn in 2009.
