US June 2009 hybrid car sales totalled 26,205 units, up 2 % on the May figure of 25,693 units. Japanese manufacturers Toyota and Honda continue to dominate the hybrid market with 5 models in the top six. Fords Fusion hybrid however, is continuing increase its share of the “sub Prius” market. The Fusion stands in fourth place with sales of 2,058 units in June.
2009 Hybrid car sales show a continuing upward trend with sales increasing every month since January. With manufacturers continuing to place more hybrid models on to the market, the stage is set for hybrid cars to increase overall market share in the coming 18 month period to 2011.
Year to date (YTD) US hybrid sales, for 2009, currently stand at 126,516 units, down 30.49 % on the 2008 figure of 182,034 units for the same period.
