US hybrid car sales for May 2010 totalled 28,202 units, up 19.2 on the April 2010 figure of 23,654 units. Year to date (YTD) US hybrid sales for 2010 currently stand at 108,817 units, up 8.4% on the 2009 figure of 100,311 units for the same period.
Ford Fusion - Sales increase in May
Apart from Honda’s Insight the only significant challenge to Toyota’s Prius is the Ford Fusion Hybrid. Sales of the Fusion rose by 63% in May compared to April. Ford’s Escape hybrid also did well in May showing an increase of 24% when compared to April sales.
