US hybrid car sales for June 2010 totalled 21,679 units down 6,523 on the May figure of 28,202 units, Year to date (YTD) US hybrid sales for 2010 currently stand at 130,496 units, up 3.14% on the 2009 figure of 126,516 units for the same period.
Hybrid car sales are linked to factors such as low gas prices. When gas prices rise, so do sales of hybrids. However with Ford recently announcing that the 2011 Lincoln MKZ hybrid will retail at the same price as the standard petrol model, gas prices may not be as much a contributing factor moving forward. If other manufacturers follow suit we should see hybrids competing, price wise with non hybrids, on a more level playing field in future.
