General Motors plug-in hybrid car the Chevrolet Volt , continues to generate interest. However production dates of the electric powered Volt (which will also use a motor powered by petrol or ethanol for recharging on longer trips) are yet to be announced. |

Honda hybrid car sales for December 2007 rose by 21.6% to 3373 vehicles sold compared to a December 2006 figure of 2774 units,according to figures released today.Sales of the Civic Hybrid car rose by 33% up from 2408 vehicles sold in December 2006 compared to 3223 vehicles sold in December 2007. |

TMS 2007 hybrid car sales totalled 277,750 units, up 44 percent from 2006. In December, TMS posted sales of 24,269 hybrid vehicles, up 36 percent over last December. Toyota Division posted December sales of 21,972 hybrids and year-end sales of 257,765 units, up 51 percent over 2006. |

NAGOYA, JAPAN – Dec 27th. Hybridcar.com learned today that Toyota is preparing mass-production of lithium-ion batteries for use in a new plug in hybrid car. The new hybrid from Toyota will recharge from a domestic electricity supply. These Lithium – ion batteries, which are smaller and more powerful than the Nickel-Metal hydride technology in the Toyota Prius, are already used in laptops and other electronic items. |
